About Me
I’m Matthew Hoedt, a Scottsdale-based Residential Real Estate Advisor and licensed Realtor® with Realty ONE Group, serving Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the East Valley in Arizona. With more than 16 years of experience, I help people relocate, buy, and sell with clarity and confidence through effective strategies, clear communication, and steady guidance.
Real estate is my third career. I spent nearly 20 years in Colorado’s corporate world, working in sales and management in the telecommunications and technology industries. I then moved into finance, spending five years in the field, first in Colorado and later in Arizona. Those experiences gave me a strong foundation in business, negotiation, technology, and financial analysis that continues to shape how I advise my real estate clients today.
After moving to Scottsdale in 2005, I was ready for a new direction that combined that experience with my interests in architecture, exploration, and people. I became licensed in 2009 and have since helped hundreds of clients navigate real estate transactions and important life transitions throughout Greater Phoenix.
Many of my clients are relocating to or from Arizona, purchasing a second home, planning for retirement, rightsizing, or simply considering what comes next. They value honesty, transparency, and an experienced guide who understands that buying or selling a home is about more than the property itself.
My approach is relationship-first. I listen carefully, communicate clearly, anticipate challenges, and help my clients understand their options so they can make informed decisions with confidence. As a solo advisor, I remain personally involved throughout the process. When you work with me, you work directly with me.
I’ve also made continuing education an important part of my career. I hold advanced designations including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), and Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS), along with specialized credentials in buyer representation, second homes, technology, sustainability, fair housing, and professional standards.
Beyond my work with clients, I’m actively involved in leadership and advocacy within the Realtor® community at the local, state, and national levels, including WeSERV, Arizona REALTORS®, and the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance. That involvement keeps me connected to issues affecting our industry, property owners, and the communities we serve.
My perspective has also been shaped by a life that began well beyond Arizona. Originally from New England, I grew up in an international business family and lived in Hong Kong, Japan, Iran, the Netherlands, and Colorado before making Scottsdale home in 2005. Having relocated many times myself, I understand both the practical details and the personal side of starting somewhere new.
Outside of real estate, my husband and I enjoy live music, local festivals, cooking at home, and exploring the restaurants, neighborhoods, arts, and experiences that make Arizona such an interesting place to live.

Experience and Credentials
Professional education has been an important part of my career. I’ve pursued advanced training in residential real estate, buyer representation, international transactions, luxury properties, second homes, technology, sustainability, fair housing, and professional standards so I can bring a broader perspective to the clients I serve.
The Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designtion provides advanced training in international real estate, including cross-cultural transactions and the considerations involved when clients, properties, or financial interests cross international borders. My international background and CIPS training are especially valuable when helping clients relocate to Arizona from another country or navigate a transaction with an international component.
The Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) designation recognizes real estate professionals with specialized training and demonstrated experience in the luxury residential market. I’m also part of ONE LUXE, Realty ONE Group’s luxury real estate program, providing additional resources for clients buying or selling distinctive properties.
The Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR) designation focuses specifically on representing the interests of real estate buyers. That training supports my consultative approach to helping buyers evaluate properties, understand market conditions, structure offers, negotiate effectively, and navigate the many decisions between the initial search and closing.
The Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) designation provides specialized education for real estate professionals serving resort, vacation, retirement, investment, and second-home markets. It is particularly relevant in Scottsdale and Greater Phoenix, where many buyers are purchasing seasonal residences, future retirement homes, or properties that may combine personal use with investment considerations.
The e-PRO® certification focuses on technology, digital communication, online marketing, data privacy, and the tools increasingly used throughout a real estate transaction. It supports my ability to work efficiently with clients locally and remotely, particularly those purchasing or selling from outside Arizona.
The National Association of REALTORS® Commitment to Excellence program (C2EX) focuses on professional standards, ethics, advocacy, technology, and exceptional client service. Maintaining that endorsement reflects my commitment to continued professional development and high standards of practice.
My additional designations and certifications include At Home With Diversity (AHWD), NAR’s Green Designation, and Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource (SFR). I have also held the retired EcoBroker, Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE), and Certified Investor Agent Specialist (CIAS) certifications as well as well as Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES).
I’m currently completing the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) program, an extensive course of advanced professional education in real estate law, contracts, technology, professional standards, and the many issues involved in representing today’s buyers and sellers. I expect to complete the designation by the end of 2026.
Leadership and Community Involvement
I believe being a Realtor® means more than helping individual clients buy and sell property. It also means contributing to the profession, protecting property ownership, supporting strong communities, and helping improve the standards by which our industry serves the public. My professional involvement has included leadership, government affairs, professional standards, international real estate, fair housing, and advocacy at the local and state levels.
